Greening The Library

The USIU-Africa Alumni are leading the greening the library initiative by installing solar power in the USIU-Africa library

United States International University — Africa is spearheading a “Greening the Library” Initiative, inviting alumni, students, and stakeholders to join a transformative effort to convert its Library and Information Center into a sustainable, green space—beginning with the installation of solar panels to reduce environmental impact and foster long-term energy resilience.

Greening The Library Initiative

The USIU-Africa Library stands as a central hub for academic excellence, digital innovation, and knowledge-sharing. As the university continues to champion sustainability through its infrastructure and operations, the library is taking the lead by exploring renewable energy solutions to power its services more reliably and affordably.

The USIU-Africa Alumni are leading the greening the library initiative by installing solar power in the USIU-Africa library in order to increase reliance on clean energy. The alumni association invites members of the USIU-Africa community —faculty, staff, students, and partners, but most important – the USIU-Africa Alumni, to support the library’s transition to solar energy through a voluntary, tiered membership contribution. This initiative will support or compliment the installation of solar panels and related sustainability enhancements in the library.

Go Green. Power the Library. Leave a Legacy.

For every KSH 5,000.00 that alumni contribute, USIU-Africa will be able to save KSH 3,600 p.a in electricity bills reducing reliance of 7,200 watts of grid power annually. Your contribution is more than a donation, it is a legacy.

The USIU-Africa alumni that donate towards the initiative will earn a spot on the USIU Walk of Fame or Library’s Wall of Fame. It’s as easy as 1,2,3! Join fellow alumni in powering the campus library with solar energy starting TODAY!

Your Campus. Your Alma Mater!

Campaign runs from June 2025 to December 2026.
