Dr. Gladys Gakenia Njoroge\u2019s academic journey is rooted in a deep-seated passion for mathematics and its practical applications in health sciences. She began her path with a Bachelor\u2019s in Special Education (Mathematics and Learning Disabilities) and a Master of Science in Statistics, both from Kenyatta University. She later attained her PhD in Biostatistics from Moi University, specializing in Statistical modeling and optimization.<\/p>

Since joining USIU-Africa in September 2022, Dr. Njoroge has become a pivotal member of the School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. Currently serving as an Assistant Professor of Biostatistics and Program Leader for the Epidemiology and Biostatistics program, she has been instrumental in expanding the university\u2019s academic offerings. Her contributions include developing the online curriculum for the Bachelor of Science in Epidemiology and Biostatistics and the upcoming Master’s in Data Science and Public Health.<\/p>

Supported by the Alliance for African Partnership (AAP) and USIU-Africa, her current work investigates the therapeutic potential of some specific herbs for managing diabetes-induced erectile dysfunction. Her selection to the AAP Futures Leadership Program was a major milestone in her professional career, during which she completed a Post-Doctoral Fellowship at Michigan State University (MSU) from February 2025 to February 2026. She has earned several professional certifications, including Mentoring and Health Research Environment, Disability and Accessibility, Responsible Conduct of Research, research ethics, and data management from MSU, as well as Universal Design for Learning (UDL) from Harvard University. She is a member of the American Statistical Association, the Caucus for Women in Statistics, and Women in Science for the Developing World.<\/p>

Dr. Njoroge is equally dedicated to student success and mentorship. In February 2026, she participated in a workshop on \u201cBridging STEM Careers Through Inclusive Mentorship\u201d and was selected as one of the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) mentors in a current pilot project. As the patron of the EPIBIO Club and a frequent speaker at career fairs, such as the 2023 Placement and Career Services (PACS) Career Fair, she actively guides STEM students toward diverse career pathways. Her recent presentations, including one at the ICED24 conference held at USIU-Africa, focus on implementing UDL to make online education more accessible.<\/p>

Beyond the classroom, Dr. Njoroge is a registered Resource Person for the Commission of University Education (CUE) and a regular peer reviewer for international journals. Her recent 2025 publication in the American Journal of Applied Mathematics and Statistics continues to advance the field of biostatistical modeling. She presented her research work at DahShu Data Science Symposium 2025 at the University of Connecticut, titled:\u00a0Evaluation of Withania somnifera and Mondia whitei in the Management of Diabetes-Induced Erectile Dysfunction: A Scheff\u00e9 Mixture Design Approach<\/em><\/strong>.
