The program is aligned with USIU-Africa\u2019s broader academic and strategic mission to develop globally competitive graduates equipped with interdisciplinary skills, ethical foundations, and the capacity to address complex societal and workforce challenges at both regional and international levels. The event brought together USIU-Africa leadership, partner organizations, and student leaders to deliver structured guidance on mentorship, leadership, career clarity, and workforce readiness.<\/p><p>Speaking during the event, Dr. Victor Boiyo, the Deputy Vice Chancellor-Student Life highlighted the challenges of an information-saturated environment that can create confusion around career choices. He emphasized the importance of structured mentorship in enabling students to identify their purpose, establish a clear sense of direction, and commit to continuous personal and professional development. He further highlighted character, ethical values, and community responsibility as foundational to sustainable leadership and long-term success.<\/p><p>Ms. Lucy Mutuma, a representative from Generation Change Africa (GenChange) outlined GenChange\u2019s mission to empower young people through purpose-driven leadership, life skills development, and mentorship. She reassured participants that uncertainty during the transition from secondary education is normal and emphasized that clarity emerges through exposure, guidance, and experience. She introduced GenChange\u2019s multi-stage development framework focused on values discovery, informed decision-making, and leadership formation, encouraging students to pursue self-awareness, skill acquisition, and proactive mentorship engagement.<\/p><p>Dr. Livingstone Makori, Founder, Corporate Career Academy (CCA) gave an overview of the evolving global labor market, highlighting the influence of automation, artificial intelligence, and digital transformation on job displacement and job creation. He introduced a structured self-assessment approach based on a Strength, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats (SWOT) framework to help students align their strengths, interests, and motivations with future workforce demands. He emphasized adaptability, lifelong learning, emotional intelligence, social capital, and problem-solving orientation as essential competencies for long-term employability and leadership.<\/p><p>The event also featured a panel discussion led by industry experts to discuss challenges learners encounter when making career choices.
