On February 14, USIU-Africa\u2019s Japanese Club embarked on an exciting and enriching excursion to the Japanese Embassy which allowed the students to explore, experience and deepen their understanding of the Japanese culture. With over 60 participants in attendance, the event provided a unique opportunity to engage in creative activities, learn about Japan\u2019s rich history, and enjoy an authentic cinematic experience.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

The excursion featured a diverse range of activities that kept participants engaged throughout the day. One of the key highlights was the\u00a0Yonkoma (4-<\/strong>p<\/strong>anel Manga)\u00a0<\/strong>d<\/strong>rawing\u00a0<\/strong>s<\/strong>ession<\/strong>, where attendees tapped into their creativity by crafting their own short manga stories. This hands-on activity allowed them to express their artistic skills while learning about one of Japan\u2019s most beloved storytelling formats. The students explored their creative ability allowing them to experience the joy of bringing their ideas and thoughts into life through storytelling.<\/p>\n

In addition, students gained more knowledge and skills through\u00a0informational videos about Japan<\/strong>.<\/strong>\u00a0These educational and engaging documentaries covered various aspects of Japanese society, from cultural traditions to technological advancements, offering valuable insights into the country\u2019s unique way of life.<\/p>\n

The experience was further enhanced by a\u00a0special movie screening of<\/strong>\u00a0Nobody Knows<\/em>\u00a0(2004)<\/strong>,<\/strong>\u00a0a critically acclaimed Japanese film. The screening provided attendees with a deep and emotional exploration of family and resilience, leaving a lasting impression on the audience. The movie session created a shared space for reflection and appreciation of Japanese cinema.<\/p>\n

The excursion was a highly successful and enlightening experience. These hands-on activities, informative sessions, and a movie screening, left participants with newfound knowledge and a deeper appreciation for Japanese art, history, and storytelling. USIU-Africa\u2019s Japanese Club extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Japanese Embassy for hosting the excursion and providing a platform for students to connect with Japan\u2019s vibrant culture.<\/p>\n
