Themed \u2018Strategies to Foster Women\u2019s Inclusion and Participation in Computing\u2019, the hybrid event sponsored by Association of Computing Machinery (ACM).<\/p>\n<p>Keynote speaker Dr. Katherine Getao, former CEO of the ICT Authority, Kenya, delivered a compelling presentation on Feminine Digital Excellence. A dynamic panel discussion, led by renowned experts like Dr. Audrey Mbogho, Dean of the School of Science and Technology, Prof. Luci Abrahams, the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa, engaged the audience with thought-provoking topics such as Strategies for Bridging the Gap in African Language Resources and Technologies (ALRT), promoting Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education for girls, increasing women\u2019s representation in cybersecurity, and reflecting on women\u2019s role in the data science revolution.<\/p>\n<p>USIU-Africa students who attended the event expressed keen interest in the topics discussed, recognizing their practical applications in both their academic studies and future careers. Aimed at connecting women from diverse technical disciplines, the AfricaCWIC also encourages them to pursue excellence in their studies or profession. The 2nd ACM Celebration of Women in Computing in Africa builds on the previous event which was held in 2022 and was the inaugural AfricaCWIC and particularly showcased women\u2019s effort towards building revolutionary digital mindsets.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Participants attending the Women in Computing in Africa Conference take a group photo.
